My Favorite Monsters

Hi! I want to tell you about my favorite monster animation, "Humanoid Monster Bem".

"Humanoid Monster Bem" is Japanese animation which was started in 1968. The main characters of this story are Bem, Bera and Bero. Please look at the picture.

They are Bem, Bero and Bera.

They are not humans and they are not completely monsters. They don't know when and where they were born and who made them. They look like family, but they aren't. They are like brothers because they actually were from the same cell.

They always says "How I long to be human!" They always long to become completely human. They all loves people and they help people who try to kill oneself or commit a crime with their special power .They chastise bad persons. They have very pure mind than real human like us.

They make friends with people, but when the people know their real figure, namely ugly figures of monster, the people fear and persecute them.

They turn out such ugly figures when they feel angry or exciting.

When I was eight years old, this animation was rebroadcasted and my mother was big fan of it, so I always watched it with my mother and we enjoyed very much.

Last year, I heard very exciting news. This animation became TV drama! I am big fan of it, so I was very grad. In addition to it, the casting was so nice. My favorite star Kazuya Kamenashi was casted the parts of Bem!

I love these monsters because they have really beautiful mind. They sometimes make friends with persons, but they almost always feared by persons. However, they never give up helping people and examine their secrets of birth.

"I really envy the human because they can change themselves several times even they alive." This is my favorite line of Bera. Bem, Bera and Bero are not human, so they never get old and never die. I got courage from the line. I could come to think that I could challenge several times and change my mind even if I was unsuccessful in something because I am a human. I really felt the happiness of being the human. The monsters tell me very important thing.

When we hear the word 'monster', we think that it is fearful, ugly and wound humans. However, my favorite monsters are not so. If you think monster is only ugly and harmful existence, please watch “Humanoid Monster Bem”. They remind us of very basic but important things to live as one human.

I love this work, so this blog becomes too long! Sorry. This drama is going to be a movie in this winter, so I am really looking forward to seeing them again!

"Baroque Cycle"

Good evening! I would like to write about “Baroque Cycle” and the author Neal Stephenson.

I found it was difficult for me to read this story because the sentence was very complex and each one sentence was long. However, in the class, I could some interesting points in the class. First, I could find that there were some metaphors and similes in the story. I thought that the sentence, “The rope clutches a disk of blue New England sky.” was one of metaphors. The expression, “rope clutches” is very interesting personification, I think.

It was difficult to understand completely whole of the story, so I researched about the author and the story on the Internet, and I tried to find something interesting about the story. The author, Neal Stephenson has brilliant talent for mathematics and history of science and so on. And he has worked as an advisor of a company developing a manned sub-original launch system. He is very learned and talented person.

And I found that the series of the story has some connection with historical events in 17th and 18th century when I researched about the story. I also found that Boston Common was actually sold for the Puritan in 1634. I do not have so much knowledge about world history, so I could not understand details. The author’s profound knowledge made the story difficult to understand for the readers who did not know about world history like me. If I knew some background of the real event in Boston Common and Puritan, I could be more interested in this story. I actually realized that historical knowledge was important to be interested in some English literature.
